WhatsApp: Next Cog in the Infowars Machinery


Facebook acquired WhatsApp back in February 2014 and paid a princely sum for it, US$19 billion. As most well know, previously, Facebook owned and had integrated Messenger into Facebook. Using Facebook Messenger was a license for Facebook to reap data and private thoughts. Back in 2013, it was clear that WhatsApp was heavily outperforming Facebook Messenger and, clearly, for Facebook, opportunities for data reaping were being lost. Facebook’s acquisition of WhatsApp sent out a few red warning flags concerning personal privacy.
